Amplifying the Voice of Young People (AVoYP) is a Positive Prison? Positive Futures programme aiming to create a space for Scotland’s justice experienced young people (16-25) to have their views, ambitions and dreams for the future of the system and services they have encountered heard and acted upon.
With the opportunity to be heard, we believe these young people can make a unique and invaluable contribution to the changes required at a national level to build fairer and safer communities in Scotland.
The programme pilot phase has now begun. The first Amplifying Voices Youth Forum (AVYF), tasked with leading on the project, will be brought together in Glasgow and supported in achieving their aims by a number of Insights Panels.
What is the Amplifying Voices Youth Forum?
The Amplifying Voices Youth Forum is a group of young people with experience of living with a criminal conviction, who are supported to come together to share their collective views, in their own words and in their own ways, with those who make decisions about the justice system.
Members will act as champions for the views of young people with justice experience across Scotland.
What is an Insights Panel?
An Insights Panel is a group of young people with justice experience who will come together to share their views on the system and services they have encountered.
Insights Panels will be brought together in a number of different settings and locations across Scotland and will feedback to the AVYF.
Participants will contribute to the development of a Youth Manifesto containing recommendations which they believe would make the way in which young people with justice experience are dealt with, fairer and more effective.
If you are aged 16-25 and have experience of living with a criminal conviction then we want you to get involved!
